Maria Luisa de Bourbon y Vallabriga's Biography
Spanish aristocrat, Duchess consort of San Fernando de Quiroga. She was sister of Luis Maria de Borbon y Vallabriga, Cardinal and Archbishop of Toledo, who abolished in the first instance the Spanish Inquisition between 1820 and 1823, newly restored by the movement of the Hundred Thousand Sons of Saint Louis; and Infanta Maria Teresa of Spain and Vallabriga, wife of Manuel Godoy. Like her brothers, she could not use the name Bourbon succession apprehensions by his uncle Carlos III, and the ban was suspended only to the death of the king, when he was succeeded by his son Charles IV. The family went into exile in Paris, where it remained in 1823 after the fall of the Liberal Triennium, when home to her sister Mary Louise.
She died in Madrid on 1 December 1846.
